The Parent Connection - Faith and Family
What will it take to stay in touch with your teen? How important is it to you to have and pass on authentic faith? Here are a few questions to get the thoughts flowing and the conversation started-
1. If your son/daughter could have only one, which would you choose: academic ability or popularity?
2. Which is more important for your teen: A good job or a good education?
3. To be successful in school, how may hours a week do you encourage your teen to study?
4. What affects your teens long term success in life?
5. What is eternal?
6. How many hours a week do you purposely sit and talk about God?
Now that you have their attention, what now? God wants us to be the people he created us to be, made in His image and likeness.
In a world such as ours this very simple task can be daunting. Your teen needs you there to help him, to love him unconditionally. Doing the right thing and being the right person no matter who is or isn’t watching is a tough act to follow. The key is being who you claim to be, the true person, no masks.
Having integrity is being holy before God at all times! Parents, your teens need you…
Media is everywhere and easily accessible. Most teens think they are doing just fine, are they? You as the parent have the primary responsibility for training your teen in what is right. What an awesome place to be. Be the strong person you are, stand tall with them, and continue to teach them the importance of integrity and maintain a strong faith in our loving God.
Make holiness a priority!
